Gunzi || Age: 27yrs

Them:
Name: Gunzi
Series:Togainu no Chi
Age: 27

Appearance: Standing at a height of 6'1" (192 cm), Gunzi towers somewhat above most
people's heads, though he doesn't seem to mind. He is muscular but not bulky, with most of the
muscles comprising his chest and arms. His hair, the color of straw, seems to have once been
cut properly but then allowed to grow unchecked for a number of years. In the back and the
sides, it reaches to his shoulders, and covers his eyes in the front. This nuisance is most often dealt with using a bobby pin or two, or a hairtie. His eyes are a grey-blue color, features somewhat European. Gunzi has rather expansive tribal tattoos covering his body, the most visible of these being on his chest and wrists

AU Personality: While there are some that hold him in deep regard, most would call Gunzi a little wrong in the head -- Not in a threatening way, but a little strange nontheless. He's the kind of guy that's likely to sit there and talk to a burned-out lightbulb because he thinks it's a spiritual guide from another world. He says strange things and does strange things, like wandering rooftops and following stray dogs. In his interactions with other people, he can be described as distant, aloof, and absent-minded. It's as if he's not really there quite all the time. While many people know him and know who he is, few can claim to know him well or intimately.

Canon Personality: Batshit insane. Gunzi doesn't have any regard about the welfare of others, be they friend, foe, or family; a lot of the time, his only concern is his own welfare and safety. He has an animal's instinct and a killer's guts, but underneath it all he's actually rather childish and refers to things using lots of euphemisms and made-up words. He sees most people as playthings that he may or may not break, depending on circumstances and rules. In spite of his rather primal moral code, he holds a deep regard for rules of any kind, being especially concerned with who gets to make rules, and why.

AU Backstory: Gunzi was born into a middle-class family, his mother a teacher and his father a businessman at a large corporation. The family knew little of his father's work, only that it was somehow connected with the government. They learned not to ask questions when the man would be called in at 2 AM, or when he would disappear for days on end and return looking anxious and sickly. Gunzi had grown up largely without his father, though he had always wanted, in his heart of hearts, to uncover the mystery. When he was fourteen he found out from relatives that he had a sister five years his senior, who had been placed into the Psychiatric ward of the Havoc-Storn Hospital when he was only three years old. She remained there since, and the boy would often visit her in secret from his parents. Through the girl, Gunzi learned of another side to life, a mythical, deeply spiritual side that had been unknown to him before. He began to act strangely, often disappearing for hours and bringing home various objects like sticks or tufts of feathers. He sought out a group of people that would meet in the Abandoned Building at night, and raise chants and rituals around a big fire. By the time he would come to succeed the leader of this group, he was eighteen; his father had been missing for three years. His mother, a generally conservative woman, did not approve of her son's beliefs or activities -- she blamed her daughter for corrupting him. This was the final straw. Gunzi moved out on the night of his nineteenth birthday, taking all of his things and never looking back.

Canon Backstory: What little is known about Gunzi, isn't very pretty. It was likely that he had either grown up during, or took part in the third World War, though direct details of hisinvolvement are unknown. Sometime after the end of the War, Gunzi, likely uneducated and withnowhere to go, wandered into Toshima, at the time an unclaimed zone between the north and south parts of Japan. This area, home to the fighting tournament Igura, is a lawless, desolate place wrought with crumbling buildings, trash, and corpses. Gunzi was then recruited by Arbitro, the referee and organizer of Igura, as one of the Punishers, charged with executing the rule violators of the tournament and the disposal of corpses.

Extra Info: Gunzi owns a pet rat named Tama that accompanies him to most places. He's not allowed to bring it to work, though.
